Video: Another Freudian Slip: US Official Labels Israel a Source of Terror

New York (Quds News Network)- US Representative to the United Nations, Dorothy Shea, made headlines after a striking verbal slip during a UN Security Council meeting. While delivering a statement aimed at Iran, Shea began by saying:

“Israel’s government has also spread chaos, terror, and suffering throughout the region…”

She paused awkwardly, then quickly corrected herself:

“Iran’s government has also spread chaos, terror, and suffering throughout the region…”

But the damage was done. The clip went viral within minutes, sparking a wave of reactions and mockery across social media.

Journalist Margarita Simonyan commented,

“It’s always foreign policy that brings out Freudian slips in American officials. Curious.”

Turkish commentator Furkan Gözükara wrote:

“U.S. envoy to UN Dorothy Shea, first time in her life telling the truth 😂🤣.”

Adam Ismail added:

“This must be the mother of all Freudian slips. The U.S. UN rep calls Israel a terrorist state on record.”

Not the First Slip

This is not the first time a US official has made an accidental, yet right, remark about Israel.

In 2024, former US State Department spokesperson Matthew Miller was widely criticized for saying “Israel has a right to target civilians.”

In another incident, former US envoy Linda Thomas-Greenfield accidentally referred to Israel as an “occupying power that must be held accountable for its war crimes,” before revising her language moments later.

These recurring slips have fueled accusations that US officials occasionally reveal their private assessments of Israeli crimes, assessments they quickly try to walk back in public.

A Pattern of Double Standards?

Critics say these Freudian slips reflect growing discomfort within the US foreign policy establishment. Despite consistently defending Israel on the global stage, some officials appear to betray internal doubts about its military conduct, especially during the ongoing genocide in Gaza.

Matthew miller has recenly told Sky News that he has no doubt that Israel has committed war crimes in Gaza. The statement contradicts almost every singly one that he made while representing the US government.
