Jordan calls ‘Israel’ to stop violations and provocation in Al-Aqsa Mosque

Amman (QNN)- The Jordanian government has condemned Israeli settlers’ raids of Al-Aqsa Mosque in the occupied Jerusalem on Sunday, calling ‘Israel’ to stop its violations and provocation.
The spokesman for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates Daifallah al-Fayez, said in a statement that the Israeli actions against the mosque are rejected and condemned, and represent a violation of the historical and legal status quo, international law, and Israel’s obligations as an occupying power in East Jerusalem.
Al-Fayez stressed that the ministry sent today an official letter of protest calling on the occupation state of ‘Israel’ to stop its violations and provocations, respect the historical and legal status quo, respect the sanctity of the mosque and the freedom of worshipers, and respect the authority of the Jordan-run Jerusalem Endowment Department and Al-Aqsa Mosque Affairs.
Al-Fayez also stressed that Al-Aqsa Mosque, with its entire area of 144 dunums, is a pure place of worship for Muslims whose affairs are exclusively supervised by the Waqf Department and the Jordanian Al-Aqsa Mosque Affairs.
More than 1500 Israeli settlers raided the courtyards of the mosque on Sunday under the occupation forces protection who brutally assaulted and detained Palestinian worshipers in the courtyards of the mosque, including Palestinian youths and women.

Lately, settler groups have called for massive raids into Al Aqsa mosque on Sunday, on the 8th of Dhul Hijjah, one of the holy pilgrimage days in Islam.
The settler groups called for the raid to mark the so-called ‘Tisha B’Av’, a fast day which marks ‘the destruction of the Temple’, as zionists believe.
The groups have also called for protests in the Old City on the same day.
The latest fight between the occupation state and the resistance was sparked by settlers’ raids into Al Aqsa mosque as well as the Israeli ethnic cleansing against Palestinians in occupied Jerusalem.
Al-Aqsa Mosque is the third holiest site in Islam which located in occupied Jerusalem.
