Tuscany Governor Calls on Italy to Recognize State of Palestine, Pledges to Raise Palestinian Flag at Government Headquarters

Rome (Quds News Network)- Tuscany’s regional president, Eugenio Giani, has urged the Italian government to officially recognize the State of Palestine. He said such a step is crucial to stop Israel’s ongoing genocide in Gaza.

Giani announced he will submit a formal resolution to the Regional Council. The proposal demands recognition of Palestine as a free, sovereign, and independent state.

He believes formal recognition under international law can help deter Israel’s repeated, unjustified attacks on Gaza.

“The actions of Netanyahu and his government are a clear violation of human rights,” Giani said. “These are rights guaranteed to every human being by the United Nations.”

He stated that Israel is committing war crimes, particularly targeting Palestinian children, women, and the elderly.

Giani also declared that starting Monday, June 2, the Palestinian flag will fly in front of Palazzo Strozzi Sacrati—the seat of Tuscany’s regional government—in a sign of solidarity with the Palestinian people.

His statement aligns with growing European momentum to recognize a Palestinian state and demand accountability for Israel’s crimes in Gaza.
