Gaza Famine Deaths Rise to 162, Israeli Strikes Kill 82 More

Gaza (Quds News Network)- The humanitarian crisis in Gaza continues to worsen. In just 24 hours, three more Palestinians, two of them children, died from hunger and malnutrition, according to the Health Ministry. This raises the total number of famine-related deaths to 162, including 92 children.

Israeli airstrikes also killed at least 82 Palestinians across the Gaza Strip on Friday. Forty-nine of them were killed while waiting for food aid.

Hospitals reported several direct attacks on aid distribution zones. Two members of an aid security team were killed in an Israeli strike on al-Karama neighborhood in northwest Gaza City. A civilian was also killed by shelling in al-Daraj area, east of the city.

Rescue teams pulled 18 bodies from the rubble of homes destroyed in al-Zaytoun and Shuja’iyya neighborhoods. These areas were targeted by intense Israeli shelling. More shelling was reported near al-Bureij refugee camp in central Gaza.

In northern Gaza, the number of Palestinians killed while waiting for aid reached 49 by Friday afternoon. Hospitals are overwhelmed. The director of al-Shifa Medical Complex warned of a severe shortage of beds, medicine, and supplies. He described the situation as “dangerously close to collapse.”

The Health Ministry repeated its urgent call for international intervention. “The crisis is worsening under siege and aid restrictions,” the ministry stated. “We urge the global community to act immediately.”

According to the UNICEF, over 5,000 children are now suffering from acute malnutrition. “Gaza has already crossed the famine threshold,” the UNICEF representative in Palestine told AlJazeera. “One in three people goes days without food. The situation is shocking and getting worse.”

He added: “Massive aid must enter Gaza now, through all crossings. We cannot wait for the war to end.”

Since Israel resumed its genocide in Gaza in March, around 9,100 Palestinians have been killed and over 35,000 injured.
