Israeli Military Launches Major Ground Offensive Across Gaza

Gaza (Quds News Network)- Israel has launched a large-scale ground invasion across Gaza, backed by intense aerial bombardments that have caused mass killings among civilians in recent days.

According to the military, troops from its Southern Command are now conducting operations on the ground in both northern and southern areas of the enclave, backed by intense aerial bombardment, as part of its “Operation Gideon’s Chariots”.

The Israeli military claimed its air force launched attacks on “more than 670 Hamas terrorist targets” in Gaza over the past week.

Over the past 72 hours, Israeli attacks across the enclave have killed more than 400 Palestinians, with strikes targeting residential areas, tents, shelters, hospitals, and other civilian sites. Residents have described the situation as feeling “like living through the horrors of Judgment Day.”

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has said the new assault is aimed at defeating Hamas and Israeli forces won’t “enter and then exit” Gaza, suggesting an indefinite military occupation.

Under the plan, Netanyahu has also said Gaza’s population “will be moved.”

Unnamed Israeli officials told news agencies the plan includes the “conquest” of the entire Gaza Strip.

The Israeli plan also envisions the establishment of a new “humanitarian zone” in southern Gaza that will serve as a base for aid, which would no longer be overseen by independent humanitarian organisations.

This comes as both Israel and Hamas confirmed on Saturday that further mediated ceasefire talks are underway in Qatar.
