“Unimaginable Levels”: UK, Canada, Australia Among 27 Countries Urging Israel to Allow Gaza Aid

Gaza (Quds News Network)- Britain, Canada, Australia, and 24 of their European allies have declared that the humanitarian crisis in Gaza has reached ‘unimaginable levels,’ urging Israel to allow aid into the Palestinian enclave as warnings grow that a worst-case scenario of famine is unfolding.

“Famine is unfolding before our eyes. Urgent action is needed now to halt and reverse starvation,” the foreign ministers of the countries said in a joint statement published by Britain.

“We call on the government of Israel to provide authorisation for all international NGO aid shipments and to unblock essential humanitarian actors from operating,” the statement added.

The states said Israel must open all crossings and routes “to allow a flood of aid into Gaza, including food, nutrition supplies, shelter, fuel, clean water, medicine and medical equipment.”

“Lethal force must not be used at distribution sites, and civilians, humanitarians and medical workers must be protected.”

The Foreign Ministers of Australia, Belgium, Canada, Cyprus, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, France, Greece, Iceland, Ireland, Italy, Japan, Latvia, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Malta, the Netherlands, Norway, Portugal, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland and the UK have signed the statement. Germany and Hungary did not sign the statement.
