Israel Considers Striking Lebanese Parliament Building, Report

Beirut (Quds News Network)- Israeli military correspondent Avi Ashkenazi reported in Maariv that the Israeli military is considering targeting Lebanon‘s parliament building in Beirut as part of its military campaign against the country.

According to Ashkenazi, such an action would serve as a declaration of “victory” to facilitate the return of northern Israeli residents to their homes amid ongoing attacks.

Ashkenazi emphasized the urgency for Israel to stabilize the northern front to fully focus on its genocide in Gaza. He noted that resolving the situation in Lebanon could increase regional pressure on Hamas, further isolating the resistance movement on the geopolitical stage.

The report highlighted the ongoing negotiations for a ceasefire with Hezbollah, stating that the primary sticking point is Israel’s demand to maintain freedom of attacks in the region. Ashkenazi described this issue as a critical tactical concern requiring decisive action by Israeli military leaders.

Intensifying Clashes with Hezbollah

Meanwhile, Hezbollah has continued its attacks on the occupation state. On Sunday morning, the party launched a wide-scale operation involving drones and missiles targeting central Israel, as well as strikes on areas such as Kiryat Shmona and Safed.

According to Ashkenazi, these operations underscore Hezbollah’s ongoing military activity.

Despite losses inflicted by the Israeli army, Hezbollah remains resilient, successfully dealing significant blows to the occupying state.

The report suggested that Israel may escalate its offensive by striking 10 to 20 additional residential buildings in Beirut’s southern suburb.

The report also suggested that Israel may target the Lebanese parliament building. Ashkenazi, a former Israeli army officer, claimed that the parliament represents part of what he described as “Hezbollah’s political infrastructure”, alleging that it could serve as a “shelter for its members”.

Striking the parliament, he claimed, would deliver a severe blow to Hezbollah’s political and military capabilities.
