Hamas: We Handed Over All Prisoners and the Corpses We Could Reach

Gaza (QNN)- Al-Qassam Brigades, Hamas’ military wing, said they handed over all living Israeli soldier prisoners in their custody and the corpses they could access. Remaining bodies require special equipment and extensive efforts to retrieve, the resistance group added.

Hamas warned repeatedly during Israel’s genocidal campaign that indiscriminate strikes killed both Palestinian citizens and Israeli soldier prisoners. The attacks, however, continued and even intensified.

Earlier today, Al-Qassam confirmed it would hand over two more bodies under the prisoner exchange and Gaza ceasefire deal. Israeli media reported that Israel prepared to receive five bodies later Wednesday. The Israeli army confirmed the Red Cross transferred two corpses, now en route to Israeli forces in Gaza.

On Monday, Hamas released 20 living Israeli soldier prisoners. With today’s delivery, the total corpses handed to Israel rises to 10. Al-Qassam said it needs more time to recover the remaining bodies.

One body Israel received reportedly did not match any known captive. A Palestinian resistance leader said that the corpse belongs to an Israeli soldier captured in May 2024 in Jabalia refugee Camp. The soldier’s capture and removal to a Hamas tunnel occurred during a direct clash with Israeli forces.

In return, Israel released 250 Palestinian detainees serving life sentences and 1,718 hostages from Gaza since October 8, 2023. They also handed over 90 Palestinian corpses with marks of execution, torture, and tank tread.

The exchange is part of the first phase of the Gaza ceasefire agreement, effective October 10. The deal follows a US-backed plan under President Donald Trump’s administration, which supported Israel’s genocide since October 7, 2023. Those strikes killed 67,938 Palestinians and injured 170,169, mostly women and children. The campaign also caused widespread famine, killing 463 more Palestinians, including 157 children.
