Yemen’s Houthis Declare Full Aerial Siege on Israel After Missile Hits Ben Gurion Airport

Sanaa (Quds News Network)- Yemen’s Ansar Allah movement (Houthis) has announced the start of a full aerial blockade on Israel. Yemen’s military spokesperson declared Sunday that they will continue targeting Israeli airports—chiefly Ben Gurion—as a response to Israel’s expansion of its assault on Gaza.
“The armed forces will impose the siege by repeatedly striking airports, especially Lod Airport, known by the enemy as Ben Gurion,” the spokesperson said.
The statement urged all international airlines to immediately suspend flights to Israeli airports. “This is for the safety of their aircraft and passengers,” it added. The Yemeni armed forces warned that Yemen “will not accept the continued violation of Arab countries like Lebanon and Syria” and vowed that “this nation will not surrender or back down.”
The statement followed reports that a Yemeni missile struck Ben Gurion Airport. Israeli media said the missile breached four layers of air defenses, including the U.S.-made THAAD and Israel’s Arrow systems. The impact left a 25-meter-deep crater.
Emergency services treated eight settlers at the scene. One suffered moderate injuries.
Following the operation, Israel halted all incoming and outgoing flights at Ben Gurion. Nine airlines, including Lufthansa, Swiss, Austrian Airlines, and Air India, canceled their flights to Tel Aviv. Hungary’s Wizz Air suspended flights until Tuesday. United Airlines and Ryanair also called off Sunday’s operations. An Air India flight en route to Tel Aviv returned to New Delhi mid-flight.
Israel’s Defense Minister Israel Katz warned, “Whoever hits us, we will hit back seven times harder.” Opposition leader Benny Gantz blamed Iran and said “Tehran must bear the consequences.”
