Yemen Unveils the Reason Behind Trump Halting Attacks

Sanaa (Quds News Network)- Yemen’s Armed Forces stated Wednesday that they forced the United States to stop its military attacks on Yemen after a powerful operation in the Red Sea. The statement came after U.S. President Donald Trump announced a halt to American strikes, claiming Yemen’s resistance had “surrendered.”
According to the Yemeni Armed Forces, they launched a joint air and sea operation targeting the U.S. aircraft carrier USS Truman and other warships north of the Red Sea. The assault used ballistic missiles and drones. It reportedly caused chaos in the U.S. fleet, downed an F-18 fighter jet, and forced USS Truman to flee north. The attack disrupted a planned U.S. strike and showed Washington that further aggression would bring serious consequences.
In the same statement, Yemen’s armed forces announced that its drones also struck Israel’s Ramon Airport and a critical target in occupied Jaffa, in support of Palestinians in Gaza. Yemen vowed to continue its military support for Gaza and to block Israeli ships in the Red and Arabian Seas and Israeli flights at Al-Lid Airport.
Ansarullah movement spokesperson Mohammed Abdul Salam told Al Jazeera that Washington initially pushed for a halt to Yemen’s support for Gaza. When military and diplomatic pressure failed, he said, the U.S. backed off. He confirmed that Oman brokered indirect talks but denied any formal agreement. “We only promised to stop if the attacks stop,” he said. “We will defend ourselves if attacked again.”
Yemen says its operations will continue until Israel ends its genocide in Gaza and lifts the blockade. “Blood for blood,” the statement read, “We remain with Gaza and Palestine—until victory, God willing.”
Trump commented on his agreement with Yemen during a press briefing today. “We hit them very hard,” he said, referring to U.S. attacks on the civilians in Yemen. “They had a great capacity to withstand punishment. They took tremendous punishment, and you could say there’s a lot of bravery there. It was amazing what they took.” Trump added that the U.S. now honors the commitment the Houthis made. “They gave us their word they will not be shooting ships anymore, and we honor that.”
