World reacts to Israel’s aggression on native Jerusalemites

Occupied Palestine (QNN)- For the second day, the occupation state has been attacking worshipers at Al Aqsa mosque, leaving hundreds of injuries.

Over 90,000 worshipers flocked to Islam’s third-holiest site on the Night of Value while many stayed on to protest against Israeli plans to evict Palestinian families from their homes in the Sheikh Jarrah neighborhood in the eastern part of Jerusalem.

The local elections did not prevent the First Minister of Scotland, Nicola Sturgeon, from strongly rejecting the Israeli aggressions against Muslims and native Palestinians.

“Attacking a place of worship at any time is reprehensible, but attacking a mosque during Ramadan is utterly indefensible. It is also a violation of international law. Israel should heed calls to halt the violence immediately. #SheikhJarrah”, Sturgeon tweeted.

In a Twitter thread, the European Union’s Spokesperson for the Middle East and North Africa, Luis Miguel Bueno, said that “the violence against worshipers at Al Aqsa mosque should stop immediately.”

“The occupation authority should respect its obligations under international law”, he tweeted. “We call for stopping the escalation urgently. East Jerusalem is part of the occupied Palestinian territories, to which the international law is applicable”.

“Regarding the Sheikh Jarrah neighborhood, forced displacement is prohibited under the Fourth Geneva Convention and violating it is deemed a gross violation.”

“International law is a central pillar of the world order. We consider settlements illegal from an international perspective. We strongly reject the forced eviction and transfer, which erode the possibility of the two-state solution and pose a threat to negotiated peace”.

In the United States, several Democrats showed solidarity with native Palestinians and called on the US administration to move.

NY representative, Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, described the Israeli eviction of native Palestinians in the Sheikh Jarrah neighborhood as being inhumane. She added that “the US must show leadership in safeguarding the human rights of Palestinians.”

US. senator Bernie Sanders said “The United States must speak out strongly against the violence by government-allied Israeli extremists in East Jerusalem and the West Bank, and make clear that the evictions of Palestinian families must not go forward.”

Senator Elizabeth Warren said the forced displacement of Sheikh Jarrah residents is “abhorrent and unacceptable”. She also called on the Biden administration to pressure the occupation state to stop the mass eviction.
