World Central Kitchen says Palestinian staff killed in Gaza, Israel denies responsibility

Gaza (Quds News Network)- The World Central Kitchen (WCK) said on Thursday that a Palestinian staff member was killed in Gaza, four months after Israel killed seven of its employees in an attack that drew widespread condemnation.

WCK, a U.S.-based, non-governmental organization, identified the staff member as Nadi Sallout, saying in a post on X that he was “an integral member of our warehouse team from the early days of our response in Rafah and a humanitarian at his very core”.

The organization said it is still learning the details of Sallout’s death but believes he was off duty at the time he was killed near Deir al-Balah in central Gaza.

Israeli occupation forces denied the killing, saying it is “unaware of any incident in which an employee of the organization was harmed during his work in recent days,” according to Reuters.

Local sources reported Sallout was killed in an Israeli airstrike Deir al-Balah.

On April 1, an Israeli airstrike killed seven aid workers from the group; three Britons, an Australian, a Polish national, a US-Canadian dual citizen and a Palestinian.

The killings have triggered calls for accountability from around the world, with many, including WCK founder Jose Andres, disputing Israel’s claim that the attack was a “mistake” and a case of “misidentification.”
