Within 96 hours, ‘Israel’ orders Palestinian family to self-demolish house in Bethlehem

Bethlehem (QNN)- Israeli occupation authotities handed a Palestinian family a notice on Sunday, ordering it to self-demolish its under-construction house in the Nahalin town, west of Bethlehem, in the occupied West Bank.

Local sources said Israeli occupation forces yesterday notified a Palestinian resident of the Nahalin town that he has only 96 hours to demolish his two-storey-under-construction house, using the pretext of building without a permit.

On 7 December, the Israeli occupation forces raided the town of Nahalin, escorted bulldozers to the area and started demolishing three agricultural rooms owned by Palestinian residents, before brutally assaulting the residents who tried to prevent the demolition operation. The three rooms are located in two different parts of the town.

Israeli occupation constantly demolishes structures and houses of Palestinians in Area C, claiming they were built without a permit, rarely, if ever, issued for Palestinians by the occupation authorities.

The occupation authorities also do not allow any development there while using the occupied land for its illegal settlement activities.

Under the 1995 Oslo Accords between ‘Israel’ and the Palestinian Authority, the West Bank, including East Jerusalem, was divided into three portions — Area A, B and C.

Area C is currently home to around 300,000 Palestinians.

Thus, house and structures demolitions, confiscation of the most basic infrastructure and military training exercises are part of everyday reality in the area.

There are nearly 700,000 Israeli settlers living in 256 illegal settlements and outposts scattered across the occupied West Bank, including East Jerusalem. Israeli settlements are illegal under international law.
