Why doesn’t Israeli air force notify ground troops about the presence of resistance fighters nearby?

Gaza (Quds News Network) – The military wing of Hamas, the Izz ad-Din al-Qassam Brigades, has at times since October 7 been releasing footage documenting its fighters targeting and destroying Israeli military vehicles advancing into the Gaza Strip.

One of these videos, broadcasted by al-Qassam yesterday, December 25, 2023, reveals the placement of an explosive device near an Israeli Merkava tank, which subsequently detonates upon activation.

Why doesn’t the occupation’s aircraft alert its soldiers to the presence of resistance fighters?

Additionally, the video displays al-Qassam snipers eliminating Israeli soldiers through precise incendiary attacks within a strategically positioned building in Gaza.

The scenes showcase weapons seized by al-Qassam fighters after engaging in combat with the Israeli military.

The question arises: why doesn’t the Israeli air force alert its soldiers to the presence of resistance fighters?

This incident involving the planting of explosives near an Israeli tank is not unprecedented. During Operation Al-Aqsa Flood, al-Qassam released footage of fighters approaching Israeli vehicles and tanks at close range.

One scene depicted a fighter planting an explosive device on the back of a tank after emerging from a nearby tunnel.

In response to these events, military engineer Saad al-Wahidi explains that the Israeli military cannot deploy an aircraft above every tank and infantry unit.

Al-Wahidi emphasizes the limitations imposed by the abundance of drones in the sky, hindering the maneuverability of aircraft.

Al-Wahidi distinguishes between combat aircraft, tasked with implementing firebelt policies and preparing the ground for tank incursions, and reconnaissance drones, which primarily serve surveillance purposes.

He notes that many of the Israeli Merkava 4 tanks are equipped with advanced artificial intelligence, offering a 360-degree view of the tank’s surroundings.

However, al-Wahidi draws attention to the moments captured in al-Qassam’s footage, where the tank’s advance was detected after the resistance planted an explosive, allowing the tank to react in time.

In the context of ground incursions, initiated by the Israeli forces since October 27, 2023, al-Wahidi suggests that the direct hit-and-run approach adopted by the resistance neutralizes the effectiveness of aerial support.

Even if Israeli soldiers are alerted to resistance movements, the delay in response renders it ineffective.

Al-Wahidi stresses that human casualties escalate significantly when conflicts shift to urban warfare. In these situations, close-quarter combat occurs without Israeli airstrikes in areas perceived as secure from resistance presence.

As the clashes unfold, the question remains: Why doesn’t the air force intervene to rescue the soldiers?

The clash occurred… Why doesn’t the aircraft intervene and rescue the soldiers?

“The aircraft cannot intervene in direct combat or close-quarter engagements within a distance less than 200 meters. It loses the ability to distinguish between its own soldiers and the resistance fighters,” responds engineer Al-Wahidi.

He continues, “If the aircraft intervenes, there is a strong possibility of friendly fire, causing confusion among Israeli soldiers. Many soldiers have already fallen victim to friendly fire; imagine the impact of high-explosive missiles dropped by aircraft.”
