WHO Director says he is concerned about safety of Palestinians in Gaza’s Deir al-Balah

Gaza (Quds News Network)- The Director-General of the World Health Organisation Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus expressed his concerns about the safety of civilians in Deir al-Balah in the central Gaza Strip following yesterday’s Israeli airstrike on a girls’ school housing displaced Palestinians, which resulted in the killing of more than 30 people, including children.
“Such attacks also strain fragile health facilities and put them at risk of closure. We call for an immediate ceasefire and protection of civilians, health workers, and health facilities,” he posted on X.
Israeli air strikes on Khadija Girls’ School killed at least 30 people and wounded over 100 on Saturday, according to the Palestinian Health Ministry.
The School was sheltering over 4,000 displaced Palestinians, according to civil defence officials in the Strip. A field hospital was also operating inside the school complex.
Israeli fighter jets fired three missiles at the field hospital in the school, the government media office in Gaza said in a statement.
