WFP Confirms Looting of Aid Trucks After Israel Kills 6 Police Escorts in Gaza

Gaza (Quds News Network)- The World Food Programme (WFP) confirmed that looters seized 15 of its aid trucks in southern Gaza overnight — after Israel killed six police officers who were escorting the convoy.
According to Gaza’s media office and eyewitnesses, a police unit was securing the trucks when they encountered a group of looters. As the officers tried to stop the chaos, Israeli warplanes struck the area with multiple missiles, killing six officers and injuring 20 others. The convoy was on its way to a WFP warehouse in Deir al-Balah.
Following the airstrike and the loss of security, looters stormed the trucks and stole the aid, the WFP confirmed in an official statement.
“These trucks were transporting critical food supplies to WFP-supported bakeries,” the agency said. “Hunger, desperation, and anxiety over whether more food aid is coming are contributing to rising insecurity.”
The WFP warned that it cannot safely operate under current conditions. It called on Israel to allow more aid in and to ensure safer routes for distribution.
“Two million people are facing extreme hunger and famine without immediate action,” the agency stated.
Gaza’s media office condemned the Israeli strike, calling it a massacre that targeted humanitarian workers. It said the officers were ensuring the safe arrival of medicine and food when Israel launched eight airstrikes on the area.
“This is a clear effort to disrupt aid delivery and deepen the famine crisis in Gaza,” the statement read.
Officials in Gaza stress that Israel systematically targets aid convoys and blocks medical supplies. They said this is part of a deliberate strategy to cause starvation and chaos in the besieged territory.
The WFP has called for full freedom to distribute wheat and food parcels directly to families. It also stressed that the current distribution restrictions — such as limited access to bakeries and key sites — only increase the risk of widespread starvation.
