Activists highlight media bias in covering Israel’s genocide in Gaza

Gaza (Quds News Network)- Several pro-Palestine advocates have slammed Western media bias in covering Israel’s ongoing genocide war on Gaza which began on October 7.

Israel launched a relentless bombardment of Gaza that has killed more than 38,000 people, most of them children and women.

It also devastated Gaza’s health sector and flattened much of its infrastructure while strengthening its choke-hold siege by cutting off fuel, water, and food and using starvation as a weapon of war, acts that may amount to war crimes under international humanitarian law.

United Nations and legal experts stressed that Palestinians in Gaza are facing genocide.

Social media users, including pro-Palestine advocates and journalists, have said that Western media organizations are only telling one side of the story, dehumanizing Palestinians and legitimizing Israeli violations of international law in their coverage of the Israeli aggression on Gaza.

The advocates even compared the Western media coverage of the war in Gaza and Ukraine.

They also slammed the silence of the Western media organizations on what is still happening in Gaza as the Israeli war enters its tenth month with Israeli forces shooting Palestinians as they please, setting homes ablaze, and leaving corpses on the streets during operations in Gaza all with their commanders’ blessings.

“Sometimes the media says “there are no words” to describe or justify horrific attacks on hospitals. Other times, the media has countless words to describe and justify horrific attacks on hospitals,” Ahmed Eldin wrote on X.

“What’s happening in Gaza is being normalized. Media coverage is waning even as Israel escalates its brutality. We cannot let this happen. It’s not normal to bomb kids playing football. It’s not normal to starve babies. It’s not normal to forcibly evacuate hospitals,” said Rohan Talbot on X.

“How Western media facilitates a genocide: AP ran an article based on 1 anonymous “official” claiming Israel’s carpet bombing of Gaza is working well in softening Hamas’ position. Israel rushed to use the article to vindicate Netanyahu’s ceasefire rejection & the IDF escalated its bombing & raids,” Muhammad Shehada also wrote on X.

“The same newspaper, one day apart. A lesson in manufacturing consent 🇷🇺🇮🇱,” Alan Macleod said.

Another X user also wrote, “Guess who owns western media…”
