Occupied Palestine (QNN)- Human rights organizations said that the occupation state had detained nearly 8000 Palestinians, including over 1300 children and 184 women, in 2021.
A joint report by human rights organizations (the Committee of Detainees and Former Detainees Affairs, the Palestinian Detainees Association, Addameer, Wadi Hilweh Information Center) revealed that detainees in Israeli prisons have reached 4600 until the end of December 2021.
The report added that among the detainees there are 34, who were underage girls, while 160 of them were children. ‘Israel’ also detained 500 Palestinians under administrative detention and 9 members of the Legislative Council.
According to the report, the number of sick detainees has reached nearly 600, including 4 detainees who have cancer and 14 who have different types of tumors. The oldest detainee in Israeli prisons is Fuad Shobaki (81 years old).
The report added that 227 detainees died in Israeli prisons, while hundreds died after being released, due to ill-treatment and torture since the occupation of Palestine. Meanwhile, the occupation state continues to confiscate the bodies of eight detainees, who died in prisons.
‘Israel’ also is holding 547 detainees, who were sentenced to lifetimes in prison, according to the report. 25 detainees were detained even before the Oslo Accords in 1993.
