Watchdog: Israeli jails became more like ovens during heatwave

Ramallah (QNN)- Israeli jails became more like ovens during the latest heatwave and international human rights organizations should visit Palestinian prisoners, said Ra’fat Hamdouneh, head of Prisoners Studies Center on Sunday.
In a press release, Hamdouneh added that prisoners in Israeli jails suffer from the extremely high heat inside the cells of the Negev desert jail, especially that the sun hits the cells for the whole day, causing much higher temperatures in comparison with the already high temperature outside.
All of that, in addition to the overcrowding in Israeli jails, is a recipe for human ovens.
Hamdouneh stressed that the lack of supervision and accountability, as well as, incitement by the Israeli authorities led to further violations against Palestinian prisoners.
