Watchdog: Israeli doctors tried to coercively treat Miqdad Qawasmi

Occupied Palestine (QNN)- The Committee for Prisoners’ and Former Prisoners’ Affairs said that Israeli doctors in Kaplan hospital tried to coercively treat the hunger-striking administrative detainee Miqdad Qawasmi and break his hunger strike.
The committee added that the attempt of the coercive treatment of Qawasmi was carried out while he was tied to his bed in the ICU of Kaplan hospital last night.
Miqdad Qawasmi has been on a hunger strike for 91 days so far. His health condition has been in continuous deterioration. He suffers from extreme weight loss, bradycardia, shortness of breath, pains all over his body, fatigue, blurred vision, ad he is facing the danger of sudden death.
The committee said that three Israeli jailers are surrounding his room and deliberately eat in front of him. It added that his right arm and left leg are shackled to his bed the whole time.
The coercive treatment is unethical and illegal under international law, as section 10(2) of the Human Rights Act 2004 says that: No-one may be subjected to medical or scientific experimentation or treatment without his or her free consent and noting that: The prohibition on torture and cruel, inhuman or degrading treatment under international law applies at all times and under all circumstances.
