Watchdog: ‘Israel’ arrested 1500 citizens during uprising
Occupied Palestine (QNN)- The Palestinian Prisoners Association said that the Israeli authorities have arrested 1500 native Palestinians since the start of the uprising throughout occupied Palestine.
A statement by the association said on Sunday that it has recorded the highest number of arrests since October 2015. It added that Israeli forces used different forms of terrorism and violence against protesters.
It added that most arrests were carried out in the 1948-occupied territories with 700 arrests since May 9th.
In Jerusalem, Israeli forces arrested nearly 400 citizens since the start of the confrontations at Bab Al Amoud. The arrests increased after the 5th of May. Most arrests were recorded at the end of the holy month of Ramadan.
In the occupied West Bank, 400 arrests have been recorded, 60 of them were arrested in one day on 12 May.
The statement confirmed that the arrests targeted women, children, wounded people, former prisoners, journalists, and everyone who tried to document the Israeli violations.
Israeli soldiers attacked detainees, beating them up and using skunk water, live ammunition, rubber-coated metal bullets, and tear gas and sound grenades.
