Watchdog: 226 Palestinian prisoners died in Israeli jails since 1967

Ramallah (QNN)- The Palestinian Prisoners Association said on Wednesday that 226 political prisoners have died in Israeli jails in the period between 1967 and 2020.
In a statement marking the Palestinian Martyr Day, the association added that 75 martyrs were deliberately killed by Israeli soldiers, seven shot dead, and 71 killed due to medical negligence.
It also revealed that the Israeli policy of systematic torture killed 73 prisoners during recent decades.
During the last ten years, 29 prisoners were killed due to the Israeli medical negligence policy.
Last year, four prisoners (Nuriddin Al Barghouthi, Saad Gharabli, Dawood Khatib, and Kamal Abu Waar) died in Israeli jails.
Meanwhile, Israeli authorities continue to withhold the bodies of eight martyrs, killed in Israeli jails, including Anees Doleh, whose body has been held since 1980, Aziz OWeisat (killed in 2018), Faris Baroud, Nassar Taqatqa, and Bassam Sayeh (killed in 2019), Saadi Gharabli, Dawood Khatib, and Kamal Abu Waar (killed in 2020).
