US MK84 bombs used in Israeli targeting of Al-Mawasi safe area

Gaze (Quds News Network)- The Israeli military used American MK84 dumb bombs to carry out several airstrikes on hundreds of tents of displaced families in Al-Mawasi west of Khan Yunis, killing 71 civilians and injuring 289 others, Israeli media reported.

A few days ago, the Biden administration lifted the suspension on a shipment of 500-pound bombs to Israel, ending a two-month pause that meant to “reduce civilian casualties in Gaza”, as reported by the Wall Street Journal.

Israeli F-16 fighter jets launched a series of intense airstrikes, creating a fire belt with bombs weighing over 500 kilograms, targeting the tents of displaced families west of Khan Younis in what the Israeli army claims to be a safe area.

When the ambulance and Civil Defense teams arrived, Israeli quad-copter drones opened fire on their vehicles with machine guns and directly targeted the teams with missiles, killing one civil defense personnel and injuring 8 others.

Israel’s justification
Israel attempted to justify the massacre that targeted a safe area, claiming that it was targeting Mohammed Deif, head of Hamas’ military wing, Al-Qassam brigades. An Israeli official claimed that Deif was the target before the Israeli army and the Shin Bet issued statements claiming that two Hamas leaders were the target, without identifying them.

Israel has repeatedly claimed to target resistance leaders, including Deif, but these allegations have proven to be false.

Hamas has affirmed that the Israeli claims are false, asserting that the purpose of these allegations is to break the morale of the Palestinian people and undermine their support for the resistance.

The Government Media Office also stated that Israel’s justification is false and it aims at justifying the terrible massacre and diverting attention from it.

“The Israeli occupation army has been repeatedly practicing deception since the start of the genocide, in an attempt to cover up its failures and the crimes it commits against civilians and displaced persons, particularly among children and women”, the office added.

The office added that it holds Israel and the US administration “fully responsible for the continuation of these horrific massacres against civilians.”

“We also hold them accountable for using media deception as a means to divert public attention from the truth and to propagate fabricated and false narratives.”
