US Congresswoman Marie Newman slams Israel’s raid, assault of Jeruslaem’s Al-Aqsa mosque
Washington (QNN)- US Congresswoman Marie Newman condemned on Monday Israel’s raid of Al-Aqsa mosque in occupied Jerusalem and its assault against Muslims worshipers, calling the Biden administration to “ensure U.S. weapons were not used to carry out this or any other attack.”
In a thread, the representative for Illinois’s 3rd congressional district tweeted, “During the holiest time for Muslims, Jews, and Christians around the world, we must pray for peace and understanding.”
While sharing a news article titled “Israeli forces enter Jerusalem mosque during Ramadan prayers; more than 150 Palestinians injured,” Newman added, “I wholly condemn the violence perpetrated against more than 150 Palestinians worshiping at Al-Aqsa Mosque in East Jerusalem.”
“The Israeli government must deescalate growing tensions and allow peaceful Palestinians the freedom to worship as they choose. Violence against Palestinians must not be met with more violence against Israelis.”
The Congresswoman also said she “implore the Biden administration to use every diplomatic avenue at its disposal to prevent further escalation in the region, ensure U.S. weapons were not used to carry out this or any other attack, and work to maintain enduring peace for Palestinians and Israelis alike.”

For four days, since last Friday, Israeli occupation forces raided the Al-Aqsa mosque in the occupied city of Jerusalem, attacked, beat, arrested and injured hundreds of Muslim and Palestinian worshipers. They also blockaded the worshipers inside prayer halls in an attempt to empty the holy site of its worshipers to secure the entry of the Israeli colonial settlers to mark the so-called Passover holiday. However, Muslims are also marking the holy month of Ramadan and they were attacked in the Al-Aqsa while marking the holy month which started on April 2, 2022.
There had been calls by extremist Jewish groups to storm the compound this week in large numbers starting Sunday to mark the Passover and to perform a Passover sacrifice, in violation of the status quo agreements on religious practice at the site.
