Gaza’s Government Media Office demands urgent opening of Rafah border crossing
Gaza (Quds News Network) – The Government Media Office in Gaza has urgently called upon Egypt to enhance the mechanism for approving the transfer of wounded Palestinians amid the ongoing Israeli war of genocide, calling for the immediate opening of the Rafah border crossing.
The goal is to facilitate the transfer of 6,000 critically injured individuals for urgent medical treatment abroad.
According to a statement released by the Government Media Office, the situation in Gaza has escalated into a catastrophic humanitarian crisis, necessitating swift action.
The Office urged the Egyptian authorities to “immediately and urgently open the Rafah crossing o transfer 6,000 wounded people for treatment abroad, in light of the humanitarian catastrophe that the Strip is experiencing.”
The gravity of the situation was underscored by the staggering statistics provided by the office, indicating that the number of injuries among Palestinians has surpassed 58,000, with 6,000 classified as critical and approximately 5,000 deemed serious. The overwhelmed hospitals in Gaza are struggling to cope with this influx of casualties, prompting the urgent call for international assistance.
The Government Media Office also called on the United States and the international community to intervene and “stop the genocidal war Israel is waging against the people of Gaza.”
As the Israeli war on Gaza persists, with more than 94 days into the Israeli assault on the besieged enclave, the Ministry of Health in Gaza has reported alarming casualties. The toll stands at 22,835 Palestinians killed and 58,316 wounded, with Palestinian and international estimates suggesting that the majority of victims are women and children.
Reports indicate that the Israeli army continues its relentless assault on civilian homes throughout the Gaza Strip, with new massacres reported across the territory.
