UNRWA Warns of Longest Aid Blockage in Gaza as NGOs Declare Famine

Gaza (Quds News Network)- The UN agency for Palestinian refugees (UNRWA) warned that Gaza is facing the longest disruption of aid since the genocide began. Nearly 400,000 Palestinians have been displaced after Israel resumed its assault last month.
UNRWA said Israel’s ending of the ceasefire in March triggered a mass wave of displacement. It also said aid and supply deliveries remain completely blocked. The agency called for an immediate ceasefire and free entry of humanitarian aid.
Meanwhile, civil society groups declared that Gaza has entered a state of famine. The Palestinian NGO Network said food, medicine, and fuel have completely run out. Bakeries and communal kitchens have stopped operating.
The group urged the Palestinian Authority and the UN to officially declare Gaza a famine zone. It called on the international community to take urgent action. It demanded safe humanitarian corridors and the opening of all Gaza crossings.
In a statement, the NGO Network stated that Israel is using starvation as a weapon of war. It urged the International Criminal Court to prosecute Israeli leaders for genocide. The group also called for a halt to all military aid to Israel, especially from the U.S. and EU.
Since March 2, Israel has blocked all aid into Gaza. The total siege has caused a severe humanitarian collapse, according to local rights groups and officials.
Israel, with U.S. backing, continues its genocide in Gaza that began on October 7, 2023. The genocide has killed or wounded more than 166,000 Palestinians. Most of the victims are women and children. Over 11,000 remain missing under rubble.
Despite global appeals and ICC warrants against Israeli leaders, Israel continues to enforce a total blockade. Medical services and food supply chains have collapsed. Aid groups warn that the situation in Gaza is now beyond catastrophic.
