UNRWA: ‘Israel’ plans to force us out of Jerusalem

Occupied Jerusalem (QNN)- The United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA) warned of Israeli attempts to force the agency out of Jerusalem.
The spokesperson for UNRWA, Sami Msha’she, said Saturday that the Israeli continuous attempts have resulted in a plan, which will be executed soon by building a school complex near Shu’fat refugee camp to encourage Palestinians to send their kids to Israeli schools instead of UNRWA’s. This will be the first step to expel the agency from the holy city.
Msha’she added that UNRWA faces the Isreali attempts by strengthening its existence in the city. He also noted that “what is more dangerous is that the Israelis are lobbying European parliaments to stop allocating funds for the agency, which is very dangerous because it will affect both regular and emergency operations in the five areas [where the agency operates] and that will put us on the spot.”
The interim head of UNRWA, Christian Saunders, had accused the United States on Thursday of lobbying foreign parliaments to stop donations to the agency, to which Washington cut off funding in 2018.
Saunders also stressed that the occupation state was seeking to replace United Nations Relief and Works Agency (UNRWA) services for Palestinians in Jerusalem with those of its own.
“The important thing to remember here is that UNRWA has a mandate from the (UN) General Assembly, from the rest of the world, the member states, to provide services to Palestinian refugees in East Jerusalem,” Saunders said.
