Gaza (Quds News Network)- UNICEF has condemned the “unconscionable cost” of Israel’s war on Gaza’s children. It reports 1,309 children killed and 3,738 injured since March 18, when a short ceasefire ended. Since October 2023, over 50,000 children have been killed or injured in Gaza.
On Friday, airstrikes killed most of the al-Najjar family in Khan Younis. Videos showed burnt and dismembered children pulled from the rubble. Of ten siblings under 12, only one survived. He is critically injured.
In another massacre, a school in Gaza City burned after Israeli bombing. At least 31 people died, including 18 children.
“These children – lives that should never be reduced to numbers – are now part of a long, harrowing list of unimaginable horrors,” said UNICEF.
The organization listed a string of grave violations: mass child killings, starvation, displacement, and the destruction of Gaza’s basic infrastructure — schools, hospitals, water networks, and homes.
“How many more dead girls and boys will it take?” asked UNICEF. “What level of horror must be livestreamed before the international community acts?”
The agency again called for an immediate ceasefire. It demanded the protection of civilians, the end of the blockade, and full humanitarian access.
“The children of Gaza need protection,” UNICEF said. “They need food, water, and medicine. They need a ceasefire. But more than anything, they need immediate, collective action to stop this once and for all.”
