UNICEF: Israel killed one child every two days in West Bank

Occupied West Bank (Quds News Network)- Israel has killed one Palestinian child in the West Bank, including East Jerusalem, every two days since October 2023, according to a report by the UNICEF.

The report stated that Israel has killed a total of 143 children in the West Bank since October last year, a spike of nearly 250 per cent compared to the preceding nine months.

Additionally, Israel injured more than 440 Palestinian children with live ammunition.

“For years now, children living in the West Bank, including East Jerusalem, have been exposed to horrific violence,” said UNICEF Executive Director Catherine Russell. “The situation has deteriorated significantly, coinciding with the escalation of hostilities inside Gaza. We are seeing frequent allegations of Palestinian children being detained on their way home from school, or shot while walking on the streets. The violence needs to stop now.”

Before October 7th, Israel had killed 41 children in the first 9 months of last year.

Save the Children had stated that Palestinian children are being killed at a devastating rate across the occupied Palestinian territory.

“2023 became the deadliest year on record for Palestinian children in the West Bank in September, with 38 killed by that point. At least 116 Palestinian children in the West Bank have been killed in the six months since”, stated Xavier Joubert, Save the Children Country Director in the occupied Palestinian territory.
