UN Warns of Potential Eradication of Palestinian Presence in Northern Gaza

New York (Quds News Network)- The United Nations has raised alarm over the potential eradication of the Palestinian presence in northern Gaza due to Israel’s ongoing attacks, restrictions, and forced displacement. The Office of the High Commissioner for Human Rights (OHCHR) expressed deep concern in a statement, describing Israel’s attacks in the region as “horrific.”
The statement emphasized the dire situation for civilians trapped in northern Gaza, noting that life has become “impossible” for many who are now on the brink of famine. Repeated forced displacements and severe restrictions on the flow of humanitarian aid have further compounded the crisis.
Israel’s relentless bombardment of Jabalia refugee camp and surrounding areas, as highlighted by the UN, continues to devastate the region. Israeli forces have also been accused of stripping civilians of their belongings and destroying homes and schools that serve as shelters.
Philippe Lazzarini, the Commissioner-General of the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA), confirmed that Israel has blocked the entry of essential humanitarian aid to northern Gaza. Israel aims to occupy the area and forcibly remove its residents, under the pretext of preventing Hamas from regaining strength.
The ongoing assault, backed by the United States, has led to over 142,000 casualties and left thousands more missing. Despite global outcry and UN Security Council resolutions calling for an immediate end to the assaults, Israel’s offensive in Gaza continues, with catastrophic humanitarian consequences.
The international community has urged Israel to cease its attacks and allow the delivery of much-needed humanitarian aid to alleviate the suffering of civilians in northern Gaza. However, as the situation worsens, the risk of erasing the Palestinian presence from this region looms ever closer.
