UN to Consider Listing Israel in Report on Sexual Abuse Against Palestinians
Geneva (Quds News Network)- United Nations Secretary-General António Guterres has warned that Israel will be included in the UN’s upcoming annual report on sexual violence in Palestine. This decision is based on credible information indicating that Israeli forces committed acts of sexual violence against Palestinian detainees in several prisons.
In a letter sent to Israel's Ambassador to the UN, Danny Danon, Guterres warned that Israel has been placed in the “warning” category ahead of possible inclusion in the UN's next annual report on sexual violence in conflict zones, Israel Hayom reported.
The letter states that there is "serious concern" based on credible information regarding sexual violence by Israeli forces against Palestinian detainees in several prisons, a detention facility, and a military base, including the "Sde Teiman" facility.

In response, Israel’s Ambassador to the UN, Danny Danon, said the UN “adopts baseless accusations word for word, relying on biased reports.”
In March 2025, a report by the UN Independent International Commission of Inquiry (COI) on the Occupied Palestinian Territory and Israel published concluding that Israel has systematically used sexual, reproductive and other gender-based violence against Palestinians since October 2023.
Specific forms of sexual and gender-based violence – such as forced public stripping and nudity, sexual harassment including threats of rape, as well as sexual assault – “comprise part of the Israeli forces’ standard operating procedures toward Palestinians.”
Other forms of sexual and gender-based violence, including rape and violence to the genitals, were committed “either under explicit orders or with implicit encouragement by Israel’s top civilian and military leadership,” the report said.
Several reports have described widespread abuse of Palestinian detainees in Israeli detention centres, including beatings, dog attacks, the prolonged use of stress positions and sexual assault.
Moreover, testimonies from some of the recently released Palestinian detainees reveal that severe violence was used against them during their detention.
US Vice President JD Vance claimed that more humanitarian aid is now entering the Gaza Strip than at any time in the past five years. Palestinians, however, rejected this claim, confirming that Israel continues to impose restrictions on the entry of aid despite the ceasefire.
France has rejected a visa to prominent human rights advocate and Director-General of Al-Haq, Shahwan Jabarin, who was scheduled to address the European Parliament’s human rights committee in Strasbourg, a move that “undermining efforts towards accountability and advocacy for Palestinian rights.”
The US Senate blocked on Wednesday two resolutions that would have stopped the sale of some $450 million in bombs and bulldozers to Israel, amid the assaults on Gaza, Lebanon and Iran.
