UN Security Council resolution to boost aid to Gaza, keep bombings

Gaza (QNN)- The UN Security Council on Friday passed a resolution, which focuses on boosting humanitarian aid to Gaza. The resolution also called for the creation of “the conditions for a sustainable cessation of hostilities”.
Following a week of negotiations and delays, the UN Security Council approved the resolution with 13 votes in favour, none against, and the US and Russia abstaining.
The decision, which started as a call to impose a ceasefire to stop the nonstop Israeli genocide in Gaza, turned into focusing on increasing humanitarian aid to the besieged strip.
The Russian representative in the Security Council said the US has “added a dangerous element into the resolution, allowing Israel to ethnically cleanse the Gaza Strip”.
Meanwhile, the American representative described the resolution as “a glimmer of hope amidst widespread suffering”.
The UN has recently stated that the entire population of the Gaza Strip is facing crisis levels of hunger and the risk of famine is increasing each day as Israel continues its offensive.
The Government Media Office stated that over 90% of the people in Gaza have been displaced due to Israel’s brutal attacks.
Israel stated on several occasions that it would prevent humanitarian aid from entry. Hundreds of trucks continue to line on the Egyptian side of Rafah border crossing as Israel insists on inspecting them.
Meanwhile, the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees in the Near East (UNRWA) stated previously that it was not able to receive aid that entered the Gaza Strip due to the lack of fuel for its trucks.
