UK students unite to form the Student Federation for a Liberated Palestine

London (Quds News Network)- In response to the ongoing genocide in Gaza and Palestine, student activists across the United Kingdom have come together to launch the Student Federation for a Liberated Palestine (SFLP). The newly formed national network unites 15 student organizations committed to challenging the complicity of British universities in the ongoing conflict.

Over the past three months, campuses across the UK have become the front lines of a renewed movement for Palestinian liberation. Students have established encampments in solidarity with Gaza, demanding that their universities divest from companies profiting from the Israeli occupation. This wave of activism has now culminated in the formation of the SFLP, a coalition dedicated to dismantling institutional support for the genocide of the Palestinian people.

The SFLP’s manifesto, published on social media, highlights the urgency of their cause, citing estimates from The Lancet that over 186,000 Palestinians have been killed since October 2023. The manifesto states that British universities are deeply complicit in Israel’s violence, both through direct investments in arms manufacturers and by normalizing Zionist ideology on their campuses.

Despite facing repression from university administrations—including forced evictions of their encampments and legal actions against activists—students remain resolute. The SFLP said it aims to coordinate anti-imperialist political action across UK campuses, focusing on boycott and divestment policies, supporting Palestinian students and staff, and resisting institutional repression.

The SFLP called on all students, regardless of their previous engagement with Palestinian activism, to join their movement. They stress the importance of upholding the fundamental principles of Palestinian liberation, including the right of refugees to return, the right to resist in all forms, and the right to self-determination.
