U.S. officials nominated for Nobel Peace Prize for Israel-Arab normalization deals
Washington (QNN)- Former White House senior adviser Jared Kushner and his deputy, Avi Berkowitz, as well as former US Ambassador to Israel David Friedman and former Israeli Ambassador to the US Ron Dermer were nominated on Sunday for the Nobel Peace Prize for their role in negotiating four normalization deals between ‘Israel’ and Arab nations.
The U.S.officials were nominated by the American attorney Alan Dershowitz, who is permitted to nominate individuals or organizations for the prestigious prize in his capacity as a professor emeritus of Harvard Law School.
In his letter to the Nobel committee, Dershowitz cited the work of former U.S. Ambassador to ‘Israel’ David Friedman and former Israeli ambassador to the United States Ron Dermer in the normalization deals.
In a statement, Kushner said he was honored to be nominated for the prize, which will be awarded in October.
‘Israel’ normalized ties with the UAE in September, a move that was followed by Bahrain, Sudan and Morocco.
Palestinians condemned the normalization agreements, saying they encouraged Israel’s denial of their rights and do not serve the Palestinian cause.
Former U.S. president Donald Trump has also been nominated for the award for his role in brokering the normalization deals by a member of a conservative-leaning populist Norwegian political party.
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu was also nominated for the Nobel Peace Prize by Lord David Trimble, a former First Minister of Northern Ireland and a Nobel Peace Prize laureate, for signing a peace deal with the UAE that opened the door for ‘Israel’ to normalize ties with other Arab countries.
