Two Al Jazeera journalists wounded in an Israeli air strike near Rafah

Gaza (Quds News Network) – Two Al Jazeera journalists were injured today as a result of an Israeli airstrike that targeted a group of journalists to the north of Rafah in the southern Gaza Strip.

Local sources said that the occupation forces targeted a group of journalists in Mirag area, north of Rafah, injuring journalists Ismail Abu Omar and Ahmed Matar, who were transferred to the European Hospital for medical treatment.

Abu Omar has had his right foot amputated but pieces of shrapnel remain in his head and chest, Al-Astal said.

Muhammad Al-Astal, emergency physician at the European Hospital in Khan Younis, says Al Jazeera reporter Ismail Abu Omar’s life is at risk due to severe injuries.

The journalist has been undergoing surgery due to severe bleeding from a possible cut in the femoral artery.

According to the Palestinian Journalists Syndicate, 116 journalists and workers in media institutions have been killed since the beginning of the Israeli aggression against the Gaza Strip on October 7, 2023.
