Turkiye urges an immediate ceasefire in Gaza at ICJ
The Hague (Quds News Network) – Türkiye’s delegation to the International Court of Justice (ICJ) has described the humanitarian situation in the Gaza Strip and the West Bank as “extraordinary” and “extremely dangerous,” emphasizing the need for an immediate ceasefire and an unimpeded flow of humanitarian aid.
Deputy Foreign Minister Ahmet Yildiz, according to reports from Anadolu Agency (AA), presented Türkiye’s oral statements during advisory proceedings on the legal consequences of Israel’s policies and practices in the Occupied Palestinian Territory, including East Jerusalem.
Yildiz stressed the urgency of an immediate ceasefire in Gaza, particularly as the holy month of Ramadan approaches, and called for the unrestricted delivery of aid to Palestinians.
Yildiz expressed deep concern over reports suggesting plans by the Israeli government to limit Muslim prayers at Haram al Sharif during Ramadan, deeming it “alarming.” He pointed out that the “provocative rhetoric” from certain Israeli ministers adds to the worrisome nature of the situation.
Addressing the broader issue, Yildiz conveyed Türkiye’s position on the Occupied Palestinian Territories, including East Jerusalem, stating that the country is “deeply concerned” with Israel’s unilateral policies and practices that “violates the status quo in Haram al Sharif.”
