Trump’s Hostage Envoy Retracts Remarks on Israel and Hamas

Washington (Quds News Network)- Trump administration hostage envoy Adam Boehler has retracted comments he made about Hamas leaders and Israel. In a CNN interview, Boehler had described them as “actually pretty nice guys; guys like us.” He also stated that the U.S. is “not an agent of Israel.”

His remarks were made following outrage from Ron Dermer, Israel’s Minister of Strategic Affairs and a close ally of Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu. Dermer reportedly made an angry phone call opposing Trump’s decision to engage in direct negotiations with Hamas resistance movement.

Boehler later took to X (formerly Twitter) to clarify his position. “I want to be CRYSTAL CLEAR as some have misinterpreted. Hamas is a terrorist organization that has murdered thousands of innocent people”, he claimed. “They are BY DEFINITION BAD people. And as @POTUS has said, not a single Hamas member will be safe if Hamas doesn’t RELEASE ALL HOSTAGES IMMEDIATELY.” He tagged President Donald Trump and several zionist U.S. officials in the post.

Boehler recently initiated negotiations with Hamas in Qatar. The talks aimed to secure the release of Edan Alexander, a 21-year-old Israeli-American soldier held by Hamas, along with the remains of four American settlers killed in Gaza.

Hamas reportedly expressed willingness to release all Israeli prisoners in exchange for all Palestinian detainees. However, Israel has not agreed on the number of detainees to be freed. The negotiations are ongoing, with no final agreement reached yet.
