Trump urges Israel to ‘Hit the nuclear first and worry about the rest later’

Washington (Quds News Network)- Former US President and current Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump has called on Israel to launch a ‘preemptive’ strike on Iran’s nuclear facilities. Speaking at a rally in North Carolina, Trump criticized President Joe Biden’s stance on the matter, advocating for a more aggressive approach to handling Iran’s nuclear program.

Trump’s remarks came after Biden was asked earlier in the week about the possibility of Israel targeting Iranian nuclear sites. “The answer should have been to hit the nuclear first and worry about the rest later,” Trump stated during his speech.

Earlier this week, Biden expressed his opposition to an Israeli strike on Iran’s nuclear facilities. His comments followed Iran’s firing of approximately 200 rockets at the occupation state in retaliation for the assassinations of Hezbollah’s Secretary General Hassan Nasrallah and Hamas’s political bureau chief Ismail Haniyeh, both killed in Israeli strikes, one of them was on Tehran.

In response to questions from the press, Biden made it clear that while Israel has ‘the right to defend itself’, any response must be measured. “The answer is no,” Biden said when asked about endorsing an Israeli strike on nuclear facilities in Iran. He added, “We, the G7, are united in supporting Israel’s right to respond, but it must be proportional.”

Trump, who had previously remained relatively quiet about the escalating conflict in the Middle East, took the opportunity to criticize Biden and his administration. In a statement issued earlier in the week, Trump blamed Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris for the surge in tensions, accusing them of weak leadership.

“ “Isn’t that what you’re supposed to hit? I mean, it’s the biggest risk we have, nuclear weapons,” Trump said, referring to Iran’s nuclear capabilities.
