Trump to Sign Order Targeting Pro-Palestinian Student Protesters

Washington DC (Quds News Network)- US President Donald Trump will sign an executive order on Wednesday targeting pro-Palestinian student protesters, under the pretext of combating antisemitism, Reuters reported citing a White House official. The order will revoke student visas for students accused of “sympathizing with Hamas” resistance movement and deport foreign students who participated in anti-genocide demonstrations.
Crackdown on Student Protesters
Trump’s order will direct the Justice Department to take “immediate action” against what he referred to as antisemitic threats, vandalism, and violence. It will also require federal agencies to report within 60 days on legal measures to combat “antisemitism”.
“To all the resident aliens who joined pro-jihadist protests, we put you on notice: Come 2025, we will find you and deport you,” Trump stated in his fact sheet, which was described as racist and Islamophobic. “I will also quickly cancel the student visas of all Hamas sympathizers on college campuses, which have been infested with radicalism like never before.”
Widespread Protests and Policy Shifts
Trump’s move comes just days after his return to the White House. It follows months of anti-genocide and pro-Palestine demonstrations in the US in response to Israel’s genocide in Gaza, which has killed over 47,000 Palestinians.
The Council on American-Islamic Relations condemned the order as “an attack on free speech and Palestinian humanity under the guise of combating antisemitism.” Many pro-Palestinian protesters deny supporting Hamas and say their demonstrations oppose Israel’s actions in Gaza.
During his 2024 campaign, Trump pledged to deport those he labeled “pro-Hamas” students. On his first day in office, he signed an order that rights groups say lays the groundwork for reinstating a travel ban targeting predominantly Muslim and Arab countries.
Trump also recently proposed forcefully expelling Palestinians from Gaza to Egypt and Jordan, an idea both countries rejected. Despite this, US officials plan to hold talks with Arab nations in the coming days to discuss potential ethnic cleansing options.
