Trump Calls Iran’s Response “Very Weak,” Confirms Reports of Advance Warning Before Strikes
Washington (Quds News Network)- US President Donald Trump has confirmed that Iran gave advance notice before launching missile strikes on American military bases in the Gulf. His statement follows multiple media reports that Tehran had coordinated its response to minimize casualties.
“I want to thank Iran for giving us early notice, which made it possible for no lives to be lost, and nobody to be injured,” Trump posted on his social media platform on Monday.
The strikes targeted Al-Udeid Air Base in Qatar and other US positions in Iraq. Trump claimed that US forces intercepted 13 out of 14 missiles. One missile, he claimed, was allowed through because it posed no threat.
Trump called Iran’s response “very weak,” despite earlier warnings from Iranian media of a “strong” retaliation for the US strike on its nuclear facilities.
Earlier in the day, Reuters and The New York Times reported that Iran had informed Qatari officials before launching the missiles. Iranian sources told the Times the strikes were meant to be symbolic, strong enough to send a message but restrained to avoid escalation. The strategy echoed Iran’s 2020 response to the killing of General Qassem Soleimani, when Tehran warned Iraq in advance of a missile strike on a US base.
Airspace closures in parts of Qatar and neighboring Gulf countries further supported claims of pre-planned coordination.
Despite his confrontational tone, Trump ended his statement with a call for “Peace and Harmony”, a familiar appeal that aligns with his policy of demanding submission from opponents while urging restraint from Israel.
