Trump Administration Removes Adam Boehler from Position After Angering Israel

Washington (Quds News Network)- The Trump administration has reportedly removed US hostage envoy Adam Boehler from his role in negotiating the release of Israeli prisoners in Gaza. The decision follows Israeli outrage over statements in which he said that the U.S. “is not an agent of Israel” and that Hamas leaders “are pretty nice guys, guys like us.”

According to Jewish Insider, three Republican sources confirmed the move. Boehler defended US discussions with Hamas in a CNN interview after Israel complained about them. His remarks angered Israeli officials then also angered U.S. Republican lawmakers.

Israel’s Channel 13 reported that senior Israeli officials are angry over Washington’s approach. They believe Trump is negotiating behind Israel’s back and limiting Netanyahu’s ability to maneuver. One source stated, “If Trump reaches a deal with Hamas, Netanyahu won’t be able to refuse it, and the Americans know that.”

At first, Netanyahu dismissed the possibility of serious U.S.-Hamas negotiations. But as talks progressed, Israeli officials became increasingly concerned.

Republican lawmakers reportedly called his interviews “unproductive.” One senator said Boehler seemed to be in “Never Never Land,” failing to understand why his remarks were problematic.

Following the backlash, the Trump administration assured Israeli officials that Boehler would no longer be involved in the prisoner negotiations. Some GOP lawmakers want him removed from the administration entirely. One Republican source questioned his future role, saying, “I don’t know why we’d be interested in him doing anything going forward after what we saw.”
