Timeline of Israel’s recovery of only deceased prisoners from Gaza

Gaza (Quds News Network)- Since the beginning of the Israeli offensive on Gaza, the Israeli military has recovered a total of 36 deceased prisoners from various locations across the Gaza Strip.

Despite these recoveries, Israel’s Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu continues to push forward with the offensive, reportedly prioritizing his personal political objectives over the fate of the Israeli prisoners. This approach has led to the deaths of many prisoners in airstrikes, raising concerns and criticism about the handling of the situation.

The following timeline outlines Israel’s efforts in recovering only deceased prisoners from Gaza:

November 9, 2023: The Israeli military announced the discovery of two Israeli bodies in Gaza City.

December 1, 2023: The Israeli military reported finding the body of Ofir Tzarfati. According to reports, Tzarfati had been killed by one of his guards, who acted in retaliation against orders after learning of the death of his children in one of the Israeli airstrikes.

December 12, 2023: The bodies of two prisoners from the Golani Brigade’s 51st Battalion were found in Jabalia refugee camp, located in the northern part of Gaza.

December 14, 2023: The Israeli military announced the discovery of the bodies of three Israelis, two of whom were soldiers.

December 15, 2023: The Israeli military admitted to mistakenly killing three Israeli prisoners who had been waving white flags and calling for help in Hebrew. The prisoners were identified as Yotam Haim, Alon Shamriz, and Samer Al-Talalqa. An Israeli investigation revealed that the soldiers, acting upon instructions, had fired out of fear even after watching the prisoners shirtless and waving a white flag. The Israeli admission came after hints from the Palestinian resistance about the incident.

April 6, 2024: The Israeli military recovered the body of Elad Katsir in Khan Younis. Katsir had appeared in a video released by Saraya Al-Quds, calling on Israel’s Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu to accept a prisoner exchange deal.

May 14, 2024: Two Israeli bodies were found in Jabalia.

May 17, 2024: The Israeli military reported the recovery of three Israeli bodies from northern Gaza.

May 18, 2024: Four Israeli bodies were found in Jabalia.

July 25, 2024: The Israeli military announced the recovery of five Israeli bodies, including two soldiers.

August 2024: The Israeli military reported the recovery of 13 bodies from various locations across Gaza.

Abu Ubaida, the spokesperson for the Al-Qassam Brigades, the military wing of Hamas, previously stated that Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu “prefers his soldiers to die searching for remains in Gaza rather than pursuing a prisoner exchange deal that does not serve his political and personal interests.”
