“They are humiliating us with aid” – A child describes random airdrops in northern Gaza

Gaza (Quds News Network) – The people of Gaza continue to suffer from the policy of starvation imposed on them by the Israeli occupation. The scarcity in aid delivery by land has worsened the situation, resulting in the deaths of many children and elderly individuals due to malnutrition. The airdrops by some countries, even if modest and falling short of addressing the magnitude of the disaster, are welcomed by some.
Addressing journalist Anas Al-Shareef in a video posted on his social media accounts, a Gaza child expressed, “Anas, they have humiliated us.” Anas commented on the video, stating, “The pain and tears of this child have deeply affected our hearts! This child, who speaks with the words of a man, walked 10 kilometers in search of food to satisfy his family’s hunger. He carries the burden of widows who cannot find assistance. Airdrop boxes are a humiliation for the citizens.”

In the video, the child mentioned that he walked 10 kilometers in his journey to find food to alleviate the hunger of his family. With pain and a tear on his cheek, he said, “Anas Al-Shareef, they humiliated us by dropping aid boxes into the sea. Why don’t they deliver them to the homes of the hungry and widows? My brothers cry, they want to eat, but I couldn’t find anything.”
The video garnered significant reactions on social media, sparking a wave of anger and dismay among activists. Many supported the child’s words regarding the airdrops, as questions arose about why aid is not sent by land, with some describing it as “humiliation, not airdrop.”
The video has accumulated over a million views since Al Jazeera correspondent Anas Al-Shareef shared it on his Instagram page.
Earlier, eyewitness videos showed planes dropping a large number of aid boxes, but some did not open their parachutes correctly, leading to their rapid fall onto gatherings of Palestinians waiting for them. This resulted in casualties among citizens.
The Gaza Government Media Office previously stated that the random airdrop operations for humanitarian aid led to the martyrdom of five Palestinians and multiple injuries when the aid fell directly on the heads of citizens due to inaccurate drops.
Since October 7, 2023, Israel has been waging a devastating war on the Gaza Strip, causing tens of thousands of civilian casualties, mainly children and women, leading to an unprecedented humanitarian crisis and massive infrastructure destruction. Israel is facing charges of genocide before the International Criminal Court.
