Syria’s Olympic Committee fires player over participation in match along with Israeli player

Damascus (QNN)- The Syrian Olympic Committee decided to fire the former football player Firas Al Khatib after his participation in the ‘legends’ match, which was organized on the margins of the Arab Cup in Doha.

The Facebook account of the Syrian Olympic Committee published a copy of the decision.

The FIFA Arab Legends and FIFA World Legends met on Friday in an exhibition event leading up to the FIFA Arab Cup final. The Israeli Avram Grant’s participated as a coach and player for the World Legends team.

Other international football stars withdrew from the match in protest against Grant’s participation, who previously managed Chelsea and was coach of the Israeli national team from 2002 to 2006.
