Syrian President Ahmad Shar’a: “They Are the Last to Talk” – Rejects Israeli Threats as “Nonsense”

Damascus (Quds News Network)- Syrian President Ahmed Sharaa dismissed recent statements by Israeli Defense Minister Israel Katz, calling them “nonsense.”

“They are the last ones who can talk,” Sharaa told Reuters. He pointed to Israeli terrorist attacks that killed tens of thousands in Gaza and Lebanon over the past 18 months.

Katz had called Sharaa “a jihadist terrorist of the al-Qaeda school” and accused him of committing “horrifying acts against civilians.” He warned that Israel would ‘defend itself’ against any threat from Syria and vowed to keep southern Syria a demilitarized zone.

A recent investigation by Arabi Post exposed a coordinated disinformation campaign by Israeli-linked accounts and pro-Bashar Al-Assad networks. The campaign, spread through X (formerly Twitter), promoted claims that Israel must “protect minorities” as a justification for intervention in Syria.

The analysis reviewed nearly 20,000 tweets and found efforts to exaggerate sectarian tensions. Many posts pushed the idea that “minorities need Israeli protection” while justifying intervention and supporting separatist movements. Some even suggested Syria was better off under Assad.

Since the fall of the Assad regime, Israel has increased its military operations in southern Syria. Airstrikes targeted military sites, with Israel claiming they were meant to block weapons from reaching the new government.

Recently, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu threatened military action, citing concerns over the Druze population in Syria. Israeli Foreign Minister Gideon Sa’ar questioned the possibility of a unified Syria, suggesting a federal system with autonomy for minorities.

The Wall Street Journal reported that Israel plans to invest $1 billion to incite the Druze against Syria’s new government.
