Star of Netflix series Wednesday supports Palestine

Occupied Palestine (QNN)- Star of the hit Netflix series Wednesday Jenna Ortega has been praised for expressing support for Palestine among other countries affected by war.

The 20-year-old American star of the Addams Family spin-off Wednesday highlighted in a March tweet the suffering of people in Palestine, Kashmir, Syria, Yemen, and other war-torn places. She then asked fans how she could promote NGOs supporting them.

“We must never give up on the people of Ukraine, Yemen, Palestine, Kashmir, Iraq, Syria… the list goes on unfortunately. For anyone who is willing & wanting to contribute any way they can, I want to form a thread with information. Does anyone have resources/links they could add?” she wrote in the tweet.

The Wednesday star also pinned the call-out tweet on her Twitter profile – which now has 1 million followers – and listed the charities and groups assisting those in need, including Syria Relief, the Palestine Children’s Relief Fund, and Save the Children, which have all done critical work in the region.

In the thread, Ortega promoted Decolonising Palestine, an initiative intended to educate the public on the situation in Palestine.

In 2021, Ortega, who has a track record of fighting discrimination and racism, also expressed support for Palestinian families who have been under Israeli threat of forced displacement from their houses in Jerusalem’s Sheikh Jarrah neighborhood.

She shared a tweet for the young Palestinian writer and activist from the Sheikh Jarrah Mohammed El-Kurd about the issue and wrote, “Powerful, accurate, and straight to the point. Watch both parts.”
