South African Communist Party spearheads campaign calling for releasing Palestinian child detainees

'Israel' holds over 200 children, most of them complained about being subjected to torture.

Cape Town (QNN)- The embassy of Palestine in South Africa launched on Thursday an online campaign, spearheaded by the South African Communist Party (SACP) and other Alliances calling for the release of Palestinian children in Israeli detention centers.

The Palestinian Ambassador, Hanan Jarrar, was joined by Comrade Solly Mapaila, the first Deputy Secretary of the SACP at the Embassy for the launch of the “messages for Palestinian child detainees” campaign.

Tens of messages of support directed to Palestinian children detained in Israeli prisons were handed to the Embassy to be delivered to the children.

The head of the Committee of Prisoners and Former Prisoners, Qadri Abu Bakr, joined the campaign as well.

During the Zoom launching of the campaign, Abu Bakr praised the historic position of South Africa, supporting the Palestinian people and their just cause.

Representatives of the party stated that the campaign comes within efforts to support the Palestinian people, which has been suffering from the Israeli occupation and apartheid for over 70 years.

They called on the occupation state to release Palestinian children from Israeli jails.

The occupation state has arrested nearly one million Palestinians, including over 50,000 children, since 1967.

The current number of Palestinian child Prisoners is estimated at over 200 children, most of them complained about being subjected to torture.
