Since the start of 2022, ‘Israel’ issued 400 administrative detention orders against Palestinians
Occupied Palestine (QNN)- ‘Israel’ has issued 400 administrative detention orders against the Palestinians since the start of 2022.
Last month, the Palestinian Prisoners’ Society (PPS) said on Tuesday, ‘Israel’ issued 195 administrative detention orders against Palestinians. Among them were 107 new orders and 88 renewal orders.
In January and February, ‘Israel’ issued 203 administrative detention orders against Palestinians.
It’s worth mentioning that around 500 Palestinian administrative detainees in Israeli prisons have been boycotting Israeli Military Courts since January 1, 2022.
The boycott includes initial hearings to uphold the administrative detention order, as well as appeal hearings and later sessions at the Supreme Court.
Since March 2002, the number of Palestinians in administrative detention has never fallen below 100.
In 2015 alone, ‘Israel’ issued 1248 administrative detention orders.
In 2016, it issued 1742 administrative detention orders, the highest number issued between the years of 2015 and 2021.
There are now 4,400 Palestinians in Israeli prisons, including around 500 administrative detainees. Among the 500 administrative detainees are two females.
‘Israel’ issued 1,114 administrative detention orders in 2020.
In 2021, however, ‘Israel’ issued 1,595 administrative detention orders against the Palestinians.
Administrative detention is illegal under international law.
However, ‘Israel’ routinely uses administrative detention.
It has, over the years, placed thousands of Palestinians behind bars for periods ranging from several months to several years.
The PPS said this was even without charging them, without telling them what they are accused of, and without disclosing the alleged evidence to them or to their lawyers.
