She Defended Aid Death Traps in Gaza: Trump Nominates Tammy Bruce for Deputy UN Ambassador
Washington (Quds News Network)- Donald Trump announced on Saturday his nomination of State Department spokesperson Tammy Bruce as the next US Deputy Representative to the UN. Bruce is known for her defense of Trump’s Gaza policies, including support for Israel’s blockade and the controversial aid distribution system. Bruce, the former Fox News commentator, has been serving as the chief spokesperson for the state department since Trump took office this year. Trump said Bruce, who had no prior foreign policy experience before being named state department spokesperson in January, “will represent our Country brilliantly at the United Nations”. As a spokesperson, she has defended the Trump administration’s foreign policy decisions, ranging from its mass deportation policies to its handling of the ongoing Israeli assault in Gaza. Lately, she blasted reporters during the daily briefing for focusing their questions on Israeli forces' mass killings of starving aid seekers near the US- and Israeli-backed Gaza Humanitarian Foundation (GHF) aid distribution sites, rather than on the number of meals that were delivered. "Everyone has wanted food and aid to go through into Gaza. It is a war zone, and different kinds of decisions have to be made. People put their lives at risk to get the aid into those kinds of regions. And this is one of those cases," she said. "We'll find out through the [Israeli forces] investigation what occurred." "I think we are now at seven million meals distributed to date. Now, obviously we would like perfection. There is no perfection under any circumstance," Bruce said. "We are fighting a great deal with these [media] stories about who's responsible, the focus on Israel, the nature of who's been attacking in that region, the responsibility of Iran... these questions are critiques of an environment that we've talked about regularly, every day, every time I'm up here," she told reporters. "I thought after three months of being harangued in this room by many of you about, 'Don't you care about the starving Gazans?' Seven million meals and now we're being harangued about 'It's not by the right people.'” At least 860 starving aid seekers waiting for food aid near GHF distribution centres have been killed by Israeli forces since the organisation started operating in the enclave on May 27, according to the UN. Last week, when asked about the Trump administration stance of Israel's plan to occupy Gaza City, Bruce said, “We do remain focused on freeing the hostages, including the remains of two Americans and ensuring that Hamas never rules Gaza again.” When pressed further on how Israel's proposed plan to occupy Gaza, with the assistance of American weaponry, aligns with US President Donald Trump's stated intention to end wars in the Middle East, Bruce responded, "This is a question for the President [Trump]." Bruce has repeatedly affirmed that Israel is a close ally. In a viral i24 News interview earlier this summer, she referred to the US as “the greatest country on Earth,” adding, “next to Israel.”
