Occupied Palestine (QNN)- A senior coach in the Israeli Premier League was questioned on Sunday on suspicion of sexual assault, following a complaint filed against him by a woman with police, Israeli media reported, before he was later released.
According to Israeli Maariv newspaper, the sexual assault occurred during a taxi ride, during which the complainant said the coach made a sexual proposition to her.
The coach was summoned for questioning at the police station in the morning hours and arrived accompanied by the team manager. Police have opened an investigation into the circumstances of the incident, and officers were also dispatched to the scene to take a statement from the complainant.
According to details of the complaint, the driver was transporting the coach when, during the ride, he addressed her in an inappropriate manner and made a sexual proposition, as reported by Sport1.
Following the incident, the driver filed a formal complaint with the police.
The coach’s name has not yet been released for publication, and the investigation is ongoing. Police has yet been made regarding further legal proceedings against him.
The Israel Police stated: “Officers from the Lev Tel Aviv Station in the Yarkon District summoned this morning for questioning a suspect in his 50s, a foreign resident living in Israel, following a complaint received over the weekend regarding an alleged sexual harassment offense. Upon receipt of the complaint, officers opened an investigation, and the suspect was summoned today for questioning at the Lev Tel Aviv Station.”
“At the conclusion of the investigation, he was released under restrictive conditions. The investigation continues.”
